NHMA Advancing Physician Leaders Fellowship

Consider the following information before applying: 

The fellowship is a 12-month learning opportunity for aspiring early and mid-career physicians to participate in leadership development, advocacy, and policy actions for transforming healthcare practices and systems to advance health equity.

 

The program curriculum consists of:  

  • An in person orientation held on March 19 and March 20, during the NHMA annual conference (March 20-22, 2025).

  • Virtual educational sessions and Capstone project: May 8 to July 10, 2025. Every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • One week in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., to meet with federal government health agencies, legislators, leadership skill-building, and educational training: September 2025 (Dates TBD). 

Components and Requirements

Application components:

  • Personal Statement  

 

Minimum Requirements:   

  • U.S licensed physician with at least 3 years post-training.   

  • Strong interest in becoming a transformative healthcare leader.   

  • Leadership experience with a commitment to serving the Latino community.   

  • Strong interest in public health and health policy at federal, state, and local levels. 

  • Committed to improving health outcomes in the Latino community through advocacy and active collaboration with your institution.  

  • Be or become a member of NHMA if chosen to participate.
